Minutes of the 10/04/99 BRARS Club Meeting
- Meeting was called to order by President Buddy, KA4END, with introductions
of members and guests.
- Applications that were approved for membership at the October
4, 1999 meeting:
NONE Submitted
- Jeff Borke, WA4EFT, discussed and answered questions about the upcoming
Boy Scouts Jamboree On The Air (JOTA) The event will be held on October 15,16,
and 17 on a 500 Acre farm near Fountain Inn, SC. They are expecting 500 scouts
between 10 and 18 years of age and are asking for help from Hams in the area
to set up radio demonstrations, radio oriented show and tells, and be control
operators for on-the-air contacts. Map and directions were in last months
newsletter. Email Jeff if you can help by spending a few hours with
a fun cause. (Potential new HAMS???)

- NOTE: December Meeting will be on Monday, December 6,
1999 at Quincy's at 1701 White Horse Road near I85. Eat at 7:00 with
elections and business meeting after eating. Dutch treat with everyone paying
for their own (15% service charge will be added to each bill to cover service).
Les Shattuck K4NK has made arrangements for a private room that will hold
about 55 people. If you don't want to eat, come anyhow. PLEASE WEAR YOUR
CALL SIGN BADGE!!

- NOMINATING COMMITTEE was assembled, consisting of Les Shattuck K4NK;
Gary Goudelock KF4YKX; and Joe Swafford KE4RNF;.
If you would like to run for an office, or know of anyone who might like to
run and is willing, contact one of the committee.
- The committee's goal is to assure that there is at least one candidate
for each office and directorship that is up for re-election.
- Offices to be filled are President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer,
and 3-Year Director. If the existing President is re-elected, then an
additional 1-Year Director must also be elected.
- Existing Officers may run for re-election.
- Les K4NK discussed some ARRL happenings and things in general concerning
FCC enforcements, Hamfests, etc.
- Dan Donovan, KF4VIS presented a short talk on the coming millenniums.
- Door Prize won by Jerry Watson, W4DGP.
- Meeting adjourned.
